Project Description

The productivity of dairy sector depends to a large extent on proper nutrition, which increases the importance of the practice of growing and maintaining fodder crops. However, most of the fodder seeds are imported, and the cultivation of resistant, local varieties, as well as the use of cover crops, is limited. Also, forage storage practices such as silage or hay are not widely used. With this in mind, the goal of the project is to ensure sustainable and soil-protecting fodder production. This is achieved by providing advice, training and practical trials to small and medium-sized farms, as well as research institutes, on the basis of agro-ecological principles of fodder and grain production. In addition, the policy framework for sustainable fodder and seed production will be improved through dialogue formats with decision makers. Project objectives: The goals Project is aspiring for are the following: • Promotion of technical and institutional expertise • Development of a sustainable and climate-resilient seed and fodder prodcution on the basis of agroecological principles • Increasing local milk production • Exchange of expertise between German and Uzbek, private and public institutions
